Introducing #PeakDistrictProud
In partnership with the Peak District National Park, Visit Peak District & Derbyshire is pleased to provide to our members a suite of free-to-use digital assets, targeted at delivering through members’ online channels, consistent positive messages relating to responsible enjoyment of the unique and special natural environment of the Peak District National Park, under the campaign title of #PeakDistrictProud.
What the #PeakDistrictProud campaign is all about
It is well known that the majority of visitors wish to ‘do the right thing’, but the traditional responsible access approach has predominantly been mostly statutory bodies delivering instructional ‘do this; don’t do that’ type messages through their respective channels, with the reach, engagement and effectiveness often being limited. Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, in partnership with the Peak District National Park Authority’s has taken a new and innovative approach to delivering these important messages.
This new approach is designed to utilise the multiple relationships between member businesses and their respective customers – where a level of trust and engagement already exists – to deliver a range of softer non-confrontational messages, targeting key visitor behaviours, and providing further interpretation aimed at giving the visitor the information that they need in order to help inspire positive decisions about how they choose to enjoy their time in the National Park.
The key behaviours being targeted are:
- Dog walking
- Fires and use of gas stoves
- Protecting water and associated wildlife
- Toileting etiquette in the outdoors
- Using made paths and trails
- Wild camping
Check out our videos on how to encourage responsible behaviour in each season.
